ok so i have got alot of information from this site about putting vk efi heads on 186. so what about the 186 itself. what can be done to a stock 186 to get more power. eg, turbo,supercharge,change cams,steel crank,carbies etc so where do i start say i have $1000 to start with how far will that get me ?

$50 for a complete blue 202 bottom end. Grind the crank mains down to 186 - $250. Resize the blue rods - $80. Bore, hone, hot tank block, new cam bearings, new 202 pistons - $600. New cam and lifters - $200. New gasket set, new oil pump. Bolt back togethe |

i guess i missed the vk head thing .. sorry, i,d go the 186 , grind or linish the crank , balance the whole lot , balancer to pressure plate,replace all the bolts ,bore the block if it needs it , alloy pistons ,maybe a 161 head set up 4 unleaded , lc xu1

now all that info makes more sence to me than just putting vk elf heads on thanks for the advice.

What I was getting at was that in the process of doing a complete rebuild on a 186, the easiest power gain (and often the most cost effective on any motor) is to stroke it. With a 186 95% of the work is already done for you ie the stroker crank already ex |
