Does anyone out there know if the gear ratios in all C4's are the same ??? ie is the C4 behind a 250 6 cylinder the same as the C4 behind a 302 8 cylinder [apart from the bell housing of course]. Reason for question is that I have one of each but the one behind the 6 cylinder is in much better condition and recently overhauled - the other I have no idea about. So I want to use the better trans behind the 302.

Are you sure the cyl c4 has the correct input shaft for a V8? I'd have to look in my books but I'd supposed the 6cyl had shorter ratio's due to less power and torque.

Input shafts are the same diameter. None of the manuals I have say there is a difference - ? the ratios are the same and the diffs are different?
