Hi Guys, I have a question!

I am wondering if there is any difference (mounting, capacity, shape, filler neck etc) in the fuel tanks available for the XB (sedan, wagon, ute etc)

I am looking to change the fuel tank in a project I am working on at the moment, A mate has one out of a XB Fairmont V8 sedan which would fit, but as my car is a wagon I am interested in knowing if I could fit a different (larger capacity) tank from perhaps a wagon etc and if the V8 and six cylinder tanks are the same size?

Very new to all this so any help would be greatly appreciated
Matt

V8 and 6 cyl tanks are the same. Long range tank was an option. As tuff 250 says, I know ute tanks are different and I'm pretty sure the wagons are different too. Fairlane and LTD tank will also fit in a sedan.

Capacity of tank available are 75lt stock and 127lt GT tank. XA-XC tanks are all the same apart from the pollution gear on late XB and XC tanks.

6cyl and v8 tanks are identical.

Ute and wagon tanks have different filler positions to sedan/coupe.

ok if you find tanks that are outside of the car the sedan tank has the spare wheel well inside the tank, the wagon tank has the spare sitting on top rather than in the tank & the long range tank I believe is much the same as the sedan tank with the spare

Thanks Jim, that being the case I will need to look at both, as I have room for the tyre to sit on top and under the load floor , however, that will depend on the distance to the top of the tank from the boot floor mounting, so will probably need to measu

Hello Matt,
The long range sedan tanks are rare & quite hard to find however the wagon tanks carry about 80 litres in standard form. I'd send you photo's of my tank but it's got lpg tanks over it so you can't see it.

What are you putting the tan

OK I will be a little more specific. The Sedans have the spare wheel well in the tank The spare sits on top of the wagon's tank which has a slight recess but it doesn't sit in the tank per se.

Sorry if I caused any confusion... Jim...
