The box itself is probably worth $500 depending on condition, maybe more.

The belhousing is rare but only good to you if you have a 6.

They are a good box, but parts are getting hard to find.

Hey Zac, mate what motor are you using?? I take it this is for the HT ?? If its a 6 maybe the Celica box would be cheaper, got a bell housing you can have + 2 spare box's for gears etc. Cost you a bottle of turkey. There are a range of box's out there, ev

I also have a saginaw that is destined for my VK commodore track car. Im not sure what it was out of, but has the single groove on the splines, and no shifter mount on the extension housing. Does this indicate it was early monaro? or was this common? O

In all honesty you are probably better off keeping the aussie 4-speed. At least parts can be found. A Saginaw isn't much stronger at all than an aussie box. Plus you'll need a pull fork bellhousing, crossmember and some sort of shifter arrangement whereas

Rare Spares have some Saginaw parts, such as the shifter and I heard that the gear knob is being done also.

Yes, ..... but, the bellhousing will suit muncie or super t10, so once setup for saginaw, once it fails the swap to either of those is more straightforward. Plus it shifts far better then the aussie

If your going to a chev and really want to run a manual, the Tremec boxs are the best. near twice as strong as a top loader or muncie, and also have a tall overdrive so you can run a low diff ratio for performance and still have good cruising rpm, fuel eco

Agree totally. The suggestion of the aussie 4-speed was in preference to a Saginaw if the target car already has an aussie box eg VK. A Saginaw is marginal at best in strength over an aussie box.
