Well again a seemingly high price has been paid for an HK Monaro on eBay.

The car was a very original and reportably low mileage 6 cyl GTS which needs total restoration. I believe the car would have been a great resto prospect if bought for a reasonable price.

The buyer has paid nearly 19 grand for it.

Now I have restored a few cars to show standard and even though I have done all the work myself including drive train and paint I have never spent much less than 20k on a QUALITY restoration and that could easliy double if professionals were commissioned to do the job.

So his 6 cyl (or non-original V8 should he do a swap)Monaro will owe him around 40-60k.

Now I know that these cars are VERY popular at the moment but will they continue to rise enough to warrant his final cost?

$40 to $60 grand may not be worth it to you if you intend on selling it but what if you never intend on selling?
I spent close to $30 grand on a HX Kingswood!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes a kingswood that would be lucky to get $10000 if i were to sell it.
But the car
Not the BLOODY Kingswood

It's strange how the pricing of older Holdens is. At my mates work not so long ago they traded a HG Kingswood which had been properly resprayed, flash wheels and full of monaro goodies (seats, bonnet, dash etc.)and it was traded for $50.I asked why it was so

Fellas,
I have read a lot on this site lately about HK V8 Monaros and parts costing a fortune. Are the HT and HG Monaros similar? They look the same! If not, why not?

Yes they are similar in value, but they definitely look different, especially from the rear. It's like comparing an XA to an XC or an XD to an XF. Or a VB to a VK.
