Hi all, Can anyone shed any light on the possible implications of putting WB Statesman gear into a HJ-WB ute cab. For example, I know that HQ dashes are different to HJ, but will a complete WB dash incl the passenger side go straight into a HJXZ?
Is the shape of the plennum chamber on a HJ the same thru to WB? (the shape where the bonnet lines up where the wiper grills are)
I know that HQ are different to HJ, but were there any more changes with this area.
Does the WB Statesman chrome surround suit both Deville and Caprice grills?
Looking for information like different length gearbox crossmembers, and useful info like that.
Any info on this subject would be great.

Hi Vern,

I have gone one better and put a full WB Stato interior into an HQ ute...I have said before and will say it again, to put a WB Stato dash into an HQ on one occasion, you have to be keen, to do it twice you have to be mad....

Bugger...just noticed you have a tonner...if it has the HQ type front panels, the WB bonnet won't line up with your cowl.

You will need to change your reversing lights to clear ones, assuming you still have the original type ones.

Hi Guys.

Dave, Vern said HJ-WB ute cab, I took that to be a Utility not a One Tonner.

Dave has listed are the main points, especially that the WB dash will not bolt straight in, there will be some serious metalwork required.

I've done the WB blin

Thanks for the comprehensive reply Dave. This will be very helpful. I currently have nothing, so all this info is good to know when looking to buy parts and/or cars. I assumed a cab from HJ and onwards for the cowl/plennum shape and also knowing that the

Hi Terry, I made the same mistake as you thinking Vern has a styleside ute until I re-read the title of his post :-) Thanks for the tip regarding the XB Diode Pack, I'll have to have a look at that.

Forgot a bit...The WB Column and steering box will both bolt straight in to the earlier models.

I was confused, as was Dave, you had one tonne ute is the title & HJ-WB ute cab in the post.

To keep it less confusing a Holden cab-chassis (or OneTonner) has never been referred to as being a ute or a Utility. A Coupe Utility is uniquely A

So possibly the easiest way to do it would be to get a good smash repairer to cut & shut the WB's firewall & cowl onto the one tonner cab. this would take care of all the fitting problems.

The downside is that technically this would be considered a

Jim5.0 probably has the best idea, find a good clean WB Statesman Firewall (you will need a donar car anyway), cut it off at the pillars and the floor join, gives you the correct cowl and dash carrier, all problems except wiring are solved.

i put awb stato dash in my wb tonna fit perfect no problem straight change over but fuel and temp sender way out am trying to find wiring diag for wb stato any help post here please

The reverse light wiring is not that hard to sort out. Just behind the drivers side seat is a group of wiring connectors. Find the reverse light one (I can't remember which it is maybe purple) put the gearlever in reverse with the ignition on and the wir

Hi johnperth.

The only reason for the addition of the diode pack is, it is the simplest way of using the WB type blinker/hazard switch & retaining the original amber rear blinkers as reverse lights.

The only other methods are fitting white reverse
