hi all,

Am looking at putting twin carbies on my 138 Grey- in EJ special wagon, and wanted to know which brands are better.
ie strombers, warners, etc.

also is it going to drink much more- if any- fuel, and how will it effect the performance of the engine?

Thanks.

Webers or SUs are good.
The standard carbs were ok too, but make sure you get them reconditioned or you will never be able to tune them as they will have different worn parts.
Economy?Driven by a little old lady in a bowls hat probably get better econom

There was a few twin and triple Stromberg manifolds to suit a grey motor on Ebay today. In a shop - I think blownV6 was the shop's operator.

Problem with buying off ebay or anywhere else is you have to pay good money and then take his word for it that the carbs are matched. I would prefer to buy the manifold off ebay they are cheap without carbs and pick up a set of carbs elsewhere and get the

The old greys were the most modified engine in the country in their day and I would not be surprised if there were plenty of books, magazines articles etc written on improving their performance. It might be worth checking the major libraries, you never

There were dozens of books written on reworking the grey. Try the local secondhand book shop.

I'm pretty sure REPCO (back in the day) used to make an over head cam, head for the old Grey. My wifes uncle's got a pretty damn lumpy old grey, twin down draft stromys, in an old school ski-boat. She's a direct drive boat, so turn the key and away she go

Due to the age of the Greys. I wouldn't dismiss the Down draught Stromms.
In the end it will depend on how lucky you are, And or how long you are willing to search for what you want to build the motor to thew style you want.
Webbers/ SUs would be nice,
