hello out there
i was wondering if you can find a vehicles history ie how many previous owners

unless you know someone in the rego branch they are normally pretty tight lipped on giving out that sort of info.
the only info you may get out of them is wether it has been in your state all its life.

If your in NSW you can apply to have previous owner information realeased under the 'freedom of information act'. Download the form from the NSW RTA website. I did this but encountered one problem, no records were available before 1980, I think when they

It's a bit rude actually. What right do they have to go releasing private information? You might have perfectly legitimate reasons to not want to be contacted. The information the RTA has is there because you are compelled to give it, not because you vol

As I understand it John, even under FOI the previous owner is approached to see if they will allow the info to be released....at least I believe this is the case in Victoria.

Depending on the vehicles age, you should be able to perform a VCheck which will show the number of previous owners, the post codes where the vehicle was registered and the milage at each point of sale. It can be a very handy tool if you are considering p
