hi there,
am getting my old grey rebuilt and wanted to know how important- and what benefit it is- getting the motor balanced?
Quoted an extra $220 to get it done.
Thoughts?

It isn't critical but it will make the motor last longer and be smoother to drive.
Cheers...Dave

I reckon balancing is money well spent. It lets your engine put out all it's power and it does it easier. If it wasn't worth doing, all the good engine builders wouldn't bother.I guess it comes down to how much you want to spend versus how long you want y

Remember the grey is a 3 main crank so out of balance will affect it more. The greys can rev pretty high so I would think its worth while if you intend to give it a hard time but many thousands were rebuilt without the benefit of balancing.
