Hi Fellas,

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

In the future I would like to fit an Air Conditioner to my LC Torana with red head. Am I right in thinking I will need to get a head from an HQ or similar to mount the compressor? I gather the compressor is mounted on the head. Which models have a suitable head? Or what type of head will I need? Advice please.

The head mounted air cond compressor you are thinking of is what is fitted to VK Commodore twelve port head. Same as what is fitted here.

I cannot find any listing of the LC/LJ air con units in the parts books, but would suggest the HQ to HZ mounting system will not work on the LC, it also does not work on any pre 71 Holden due to the clearance between the motor and the sub frame.

Hi David,

I fitted an aircon unit to my LH Torana a few years ago, and used the mount off the Commodores, as described by the guys here. It puts the air con compressor down where the alternator usually goes, and moves the alternator up. No changes to

Although they are rare, there were factory integrated A/C's available in LH-UC. The 6cyl and V8 LH/LX units are different to each other in the evaporator housing but the UC 6cyl is the same as the LH/LX V8. In fact the control unit off the dash of a UC is
