Hey guys, i just dropped a 350 in to a HZ sedan, had a 253 in it. i need to change the engine numbers for insurance reasons, thing is though, because of the HP change i have to take it over the pits and to put it simply.. F*Ck that!! haha is there any way around this? like how strict are they? can i just say the 253 was worked and made more HP than the 350 is making now? so for example put the 253 down as 270Hp and the 350 as 250Hp or something like that? anyone have any ideas?? my email is [email protected]Cheers!!

In NSW that won't work. You need to get a blue slip at an inspection station with the engine number recorded. BUT, that would only work if you were putting a 308 in it. You would have to get an Engineer's report mainly for ADR27A compliance and to a lesse |

Boy you are asking for some headaches, MonaroMann. It was your call to drop in a 350, therefore YOU decide how legal you become. If you leave it as is, you are a fool. Get legit, get approvals then have fun.
If you have any accident, your insurance will

What is wrong with taking it over the pits? If you live somewhere that doesn't have annual rego inspections it's probably long overdue for an inspection anyway.
The only problem that I can see about taking it over the pits is if you know that it's unro |

Hi Guys.
I agree with Jim on the roadworthy issue, but what are trhe laws in Victoria about fitting non-ADR27A motors to ADR27A cars.
In NSW it is almost impossible unless you convert to LPG, especially Chevs, because GM-H did not sell ADR27A Chevs |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

On chevs when you get the block decked, the engine number is gone, so they need to be restamped. If the 253 is junk and never going to resurface in any registered car again, stamp the 253 engine number on the 350.

PS. If you do this and the 253 ends up in a registered car, as soon as 2 cars with the same engine number come up on the Transport dept computor system, both vehicles are called in for serious inspections

In the past that has never happened in NSW. It took up until dozens of Holden V8 powered vehicles were registered with the engine number 12784563 for it to be recognised that a woman in a Sydney registry was to blame. However I would not attempt to pass |
