If my ex's VX calais is anything to go by yes ! She gets 14.5.-14.9 around town and its a sedan with 200kg of extras. In a wagon you have extra weight and drag. So teh numbers could be right. I assume you have done the usual tests with the trip computer e

What is your definition of City Driving? Peak Hour? CBD? Inner suburban? Outer suburban? How many red lights do you have to stop at? What is the average length of one of your drives (in minutes AND kilometres)? How often do you boot it? All these and m Edited by user Saturday, 17 June 2006 10:58:05 AM(UTC)

Hi bluebagger.
Ever since the price of petrol went silly I've had dozens of cars thru the workshop complaining of excess fuel consumption.
I drive a VX Berlina V6 S/W & usually get around 14.5 to 15 l/100km around town (Sydney traffic mix), when my |

Jvanner,
To work out L/100 k's, divide KM by Litres, then divide 100 by the result of the first calculation.
Cheers...Dave

I've got a Gen3 Berlina wagon. After a mafless tune it does 9.6-8lt/100 at 100 kph on the highway. Traveling faster will drop it slightly, altho the worst since I had it tuned was 11.2lt/100, but I was traveling fairly quickly for a few 100 ks. Before I

Hi Guys.
Big difference in economy between city & highway driving. V6s & Gen 3 V8s will easily better 10 l/100km on cruise in stock form.

Very true Terry. My VY SS ute will get down to about 8.5-ish L/100 K's at around 100 kmh or 8.8-ish at 110. I have never bettered 11.3 round town... It is all stock with the exception of an HSV 285kw R8 Sedan tune. Cheers...Dave Edited by user Monday, 19 June 2006 11:13:13 AM(UTC)

Dr.Terry's comment about fuel consumption with his wife driving reminds me of an incident at work thirty years ago. A customer was complaining about poor fuel consumption in his new HI Ace van. We had a gadget that held a measured 1 pint of petrol betwe

Thanks for the replies people. Let me be clearer. Its done 55,000km. No alterations. Serviced by the handbook (not at a Holden dealer, but that's another issue). Driven sedately by my wife and I with 1 to 3 children under 4 years. Eastern suburbs of

Hi again bluebagger.
The short trips are a problem.
All EFI systems have a coolant temp sensor. What this does is adjust fuel mixture relative to engine temperature. A bit like a choke, when it's colder the mixture requirement is richer. It's too di |
