On the rear of the RH cylinder head on the 253 there is a sender unit screwed into the back, what is it and what does it control. It has 2x wires that go into the engine harness?
Don't worry dear...it's only money!

Hi Phantom.
That is a temp sensor. It doesn't go into the water, it only screws into an existing screw threaded hole to sense the temperature of the metal of the head.
It's part of the ADR27A anti-pollution gear, it switches the vacuum advance solen |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Thanks Dr Terry. I have removed the said vacume advance setup on the car. If I were to get a head temp gauge then this is where I would fit the sender then....Thanks again for your help.
Cheers Darren

Hi again Phantom.
Do you mean a normal water temperature gauge, if so, you have to screw the sender into a hole that contacts water.
If it is a head metal temperature gauge (I've never actually seen one) then yes, I guess that spot would be OK.
