The old girl has decided to spit the dummy yet again and give me some, perhaps, warnings that something big is about to go..

There is a constant squeak coming from the driveline somewhere, on stands I can replicate the sound, but cannot pin point it because it echos through the tail shaft, so im not sure if it is in the uni's, gearbox, diff.. The diff (V8 Sals.) had new bearings etc through it only 3 months ago and has correct amount of oil. Im unsure of the age or condition of the unis, they dont look suspect.

Now my major concern, i have noticed on a few occasions that if I creep forward and then push the clutch in to coast/stop, like in heavy traffic drive throughs etc, I get a rather loud THUNK THUNK THUNK from the clutch area, which was replaced only 2 months ago. I have also noticed that under really heavy loading, like steep hill take offs that i get an almighty rumble from the engine.

Any ideas? I don't know where to start looking.

Cheers in advance,

Nic

sounds like front uni. You must remove the shaft and dismantle the unis to check for roughness on the surface just wriggling/shaking it will not necessarily show looseness the needles can bind and give a false reading.
Unis don't cost much replace both f

Thanks guys, i went around and checked all the mounts and they were tight and in good condition (they were both replaced about a year ago). Will replace the unis. I actually have another tailshaft kicking around that has relatively new unis on it, might

If that is the case I will be really p-d off! Originally I had the crown/pinion and bearings replaced (posted a while ago) at a reputable driveline place in Launceston, back in the following week to fix the leak in the 'new' pinion seal, one month later i
