Hi Guys, after some advice here, I am about to embark on a new project, and have decided to strip the car back to bare metal (EK of course). What I am after is feedback on processes involved, some people swear by tank dipping and others blasting, walnut shells, powder, glass etc. I have only now heard horror stories of things that COULD possibly go wrong, and would be very interested to hear from anyone with info or suggestions for or against each way. I had my doors, bonnet, boot, guards and front panels chemicaly stripped and then for and extra $150 they then zinc pacifate coated everything. I think thats electroplated? It wasnt a hot dip so its abit like chroming something, but gold. Maybe that was o

I stripped the HX by hand. Used paint stripper and a scraper then as i got down to the original paint(i had the car resprayed once before) i used this thinners that dad gets from work with steel wool and it came off quite well. I had the door jambs and |

I had my left carpal tunnel done a few years ago and the right one done in January. The left one healed quick no problems because i caught it in time. The right one was much worse and I am still having a lot of pain. Get it done NOW if you can if you have

I am currently stripping a HJ van. I'm using two different types of drill mounted 3M wheels (one on a velcro pad), and they are working a treat. They cut through bog really easily and only really wear down on the edges of panels, when they tend to shred t

In my opinion acid dipping is not a good idea for panels.
At work we sometimes get panels that owners have had acid dipped. This means we have to take the door skins off, sand blast the inside edges, etch prime, rust protect and put the skin back on. E |

I'm with Peter Smol on this one, I never recommend dipping of complete panels or shells. It removes all of the factory joint sealing & starts rust where there wasn't rust before. Also sometimes with complete body shells there is an unmistakabl |
