Hi, I'm looking into buying a MIG. REPCO have a 150AMP Mig at the moment for $600. Its a SIP WELDMATE. Does anyone out there no much about this brand ie: Do they do the job? Do they last? Spares and Repairs???
Also do you think a 150 will do all welding that will need to be done on an eh??

Had one for 14 years that I bought from Rotary Tools. Used it on hundreds of cars. Was still able to get a wire feed control switch for it last year no probs. I also got a proper regulator with twin guages, as they didnt come with guage setup then. Maybe |

I agree with Peter about the gassless thing. I converted my mig to gassless & it's weld quality is about on par with chicken poop for looks.

Gareth, Get the best welder you can afford, try to find one with copper windings on the transformer, the aluminium windings don't hold up over time. My advice is go with something that uses either a Binzal or Tweco hand-piece, look for something with a g

Thanks to all for respnses.
I think I'll spend a bit more on a uni mig or something similar.
I've been told that a 120 uni gives a better weld than the 150 sip. |

Maybe it was the operator? My welds with the SIP150 were commented on by the engineer as "Very nice welding. Good clean and consistent" Whatever established brand welder as long as it is not in unservicable condition will do a decent weld.

I have a Unimig Pro craft 210 with Binzal hand piece for sale at the moment. Comes with 2 large spools of wire & a variety of tips. Price is $650, but not much good to you if you aren't in Tasmania. Reason for sale....decided to stick with gas with Henro |

mate if you want a good welder buy urself a WIA (welding industries of Australia) they do a little 150 amp which they claim is good for 1/4" stuff in one pass, ive done 3/8" no worries made in adelaide by people who know how to use the machine theyre maki

just on gas, i pay 9.50 a month for cylinder rental on a size E cylinder (4.3cu. mt. i think) its dirt cheap. also, i use a WIA Wledmatic 335 at work and is nothing but trouble. my home welder is a Kemppi (250amp), not the greatest on thin stuff (ie. p Edited by user Sunday, 23 July 2006 9:25:40 AM(UTC)
