I had a problem the other day , while driving on gas my car backfired twice and stopped. it would not run on petrol either when tried. awnser no spark !(tested with a timing light) I have had the electronic dizzy fixed 2 times before so I figured that was the problem.
I retro fitted the points system and gt40 coil it now runs on petrol but when I change to gas it stops after a couple of seconds and will only start on petrol . this has never happened before , yes it has plenty of gas in it!.
Any ideas ?????

Sounds like you need the assistance of a professional vehicle gas repairer.

Most likely the safety switch has fried. these are not expensive, about $25 the last time i bought one, they have 4 terminals power, gas, petrol and earth I think. They are very easy to replace, small square box although there are obviously differences in

Disconnect the two leads from the safety control box to do the test.
Also you will hear the solenoid on the gas valve in the engine bay click on. If you can't hear that or the other 2 solenoids then the fault may well be there. Get someone to turn the ig
