I'm building up a VN headed 308 for a Jag daily driver. I'm keeping the stock 3.07:1 rear end so the rev range will be idle to 5000rpm. Being a smallish motor in a heavy car the emphasis will be on low to midrange torque and horse power. I'll be running a rochester quad carb and was going to use a Harrop dual plane manifold but I understand they have larger runners to suit their 355 stroker combo's which may affect the bottom end velocity I'm looking for. Has anyone used this manifold or does anyone else make a dual plane to with a spreadbore carb flange?

Yes. The only difference is you don't use the inner bolt holes (2 per side) ie the VN-VSIII heads don't have holes for these bolts. BUT, the VN heads are pretty much monsters compared to the early stuff so they may be too big for a baby 253. Most 253's do

Yeah you need a VN style cam to suit the new valve layout, new intake manifold and new exhaust/extractors. ACL make a head gasket to suit. Everything else will change over. Thats if you don't want to upgrade to rollers and better valves and springs etc. I

Rimmo is correct on all of that. You also need the rocker covers off a VN-VT.
