G'day everyone. I've got a Blue 202 to put into my LJ Coupe. The specs of the engine are: Recoed bottom end, solid crow cam 231@50 (272)and .480" lift, stage 3 Yella terra head, electronic dizzy and castle auto extractors. The Torrie has a Celica 5 speed, I haven't chosen a diff yet but it will be 3.55+. I'm pretty new to holden sixes having only really dealt with V8's and am just wondering how much compression I can get away with on Optimax or similiar and also what would ge a good choice or carby. I'm thinking either an XE/F Weber or a small Holley 4 barrel, 390 or 465. I'm not really fussed on economy as the car is not a daily driver. Triples are a bit more than I want to spend and I'm also not big on two barrel Holleys. Cheers, Mark.

The standard compression on these is about 8 to 1
You can safely take 40 thou (1mm) off and run 95 or 96 octane. But any more than that you need to rethink the rocker ratios,as they would be a bit severe.
For about $500 you can fit fuel injection off a

EFI would be OK but I don't think it would work too well with my cam without doing some work to the computer as well. Also I would have to go to all the effort of setting up the car for EFI when later on I will probably switch to a carb V8. I have a Yella

Maybe but the 40thou will give you about 10:1 anyway and you can't go much more than that. Although your 9.5 doesn't need so much taken off.The computer on the EFI is basically to control the injectors it does nothing to the timing , so cam is not affecte

The Crow Cams website recommends that you don't go over a 35631, which at 200 Duration and .400" lift is much smaller than the cam I am running, without modifying the original EFI computer. I imagine that the computer wouldn't know what to do with the man

Well I would venture that Crow would know more about that than me!
But you could ditch the VK computer and distributor and go a Vn setup, be all electronic, No moving prts to wear out.the computers on them are adjustable, but you have to then work out how

The ignition won't be the problem with the bigger cam. I can get the Blue Motor dizzy regraphed to suit the cam easy enough. It is the manifold vacuum that will cause problems. Either way I am really looking to run a Carb not EFI.
