Does anyone know if this is true?....It is legal to restamp chassis numbers on pre 1992 vehicles in Victoria.

If so I can replace my chassis and legally keep the same vehicle chassis number. I was told this by an automotive engineering company who is offering for sale a replacement chassis(Recon for HQ Holden)Does anyone know if this is true and if it applies to other states.

Any input appeciated.

It's been frowned upon to fiddle with numbers or plates on car bodies for a long time & more recently the "legal response" has been "more robust", fair go they are trying to stamp out rebirthing but.

when you start doing cuts & shuts, restoring by repl
