When did the oil filler snorkel on the inlet get removed on the HK 327s? Was it during the series 1 models or series II. My HK 327 has no snorkel on the inlet manifold and the previous owner says the manifold has always been there. The car was built in Sept 1968.

AFAIK it was when the 327 changed from a Tonnawanda manufactured engine (ie 660 cats block with engine numbers 327xxxxxTxxxxH5) to the Canadian plant engines (386 cast block with engine numbers 327xxxxxKxxxxH). They also changed to long water pumps and hi

My engine number is in the range of 327xxxxxTxxxx. It has a high mount alternator (passenger side) and the rocker covers aren't chromed. But these items could have been changed in the past. One cover looks like it is chrome but been painted over.

Hi tanart.

If you have the passenger's side high mount alternator & a filler tube into the inlet manifold, it will be a type 1 327 motor.

AFAIK the type 2 327 had the filler cap on the rocker cover, like a 350.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

The engine is a first type and shuld have the inlet manifold with filler. As you said the rocker covers have been changed and I would suggest so to has the manifold.
