I am putting electronic ignition onto my red 308, I was told the best one to go for is the VP/VR/VS distibutor. I notice it has no vacuum advance on it. Because it comes off a fuel injected motor with computer control can it still be used on the older motors? Or does it need a crank angle sensor and all the other high tech stuff?

Hi Pete.

The dissy to use for a straightforward conversion is the Bosch HEI unit out a VC to VL (& WB) V8 carby motor. The VN/VS V8 dissy has no vacuum or mechanical advance & as such would need a programmable controller with a MAP sensor etc. This all

The only other thing you need to do is make sure you get the coil along with the dizzy. Any V8 or 6cyl HEI one will do. If you use the points dizzy cap you will also need a short plug lead for the coil to dizzy lead as the end of the HEI coil looks like a

I already have a spare coil when I replaced the coil on my daughters 253 VH, it wasn't the problem, a broken plastic vacuum fitting was the culprit.

Dont forget you need a full 12volts when running, not the 9volts via the resistance wire.

yep, The best way is to bridge out the start and run wires at the steering column connector, simple and neat. thanks for the help fellas.
