G'day just got some pacemaker headers for my V6 VR, they didn't come for gaskets where the headers meet the engine itself. Should I buy a gasket to fit in there? If not is there anything I should between the 2 meeting faces?

Cheers in advance.

I'd use gaskets.

Yeah ended up using them. Just odd the standard manifolds had no gaskets and never leaked.

Hi Guys.

Most factory cast iron V8 exhaust manifolds do not need or use any gaskets. It has been this way for years on Holden, Ford & Chev etc. The cast iron manifold has a face that's milled flat & mates very well to the side of the head.

I always use a film of Maniseal between the metal faces, and as Terry says use a gasket with extractors.

I've used copper silastic for years on extractors. If you use klingerite type gaskets the get hard and brittle and eventually blow a piece out and start leaking. Some of my heads have been ported and don't leave much material for gaskets anyway.
