Ive just put my bottom end together, new 060 o/s pistons slipped straight into there bores, crank in and then tighten up conrods to specified tourqe. Now she wont turn! loosen rods and it turns fine, re torque and it locks solid
Anybody got any ideas???? Im pullin my hair out here

Ok the pistons slip straight in ? New rings and new pistons should be bloody snug with freshly lubed cylinder walls.!! If you have a 6, thats 6 snug fits. If an 8, 8 snug fits with opposing cylinders!! Did u put heaps of engine oil in the bores ??

Snug fit, new rings. heaps of oil to slip them in with, on bearings aswell.
Cam not in yet. old crank, plastigauge says its within specs. rope seal soaked in oil.
Seams to turn free with five rods tightened but once you tension number six or two i

Sounds like u are on the ball, and almost have it. Must be something that the 5 other rods dont have, and the last one does !!! is the rod in the right way ?

Did you number the rods when you took them out? They must go back in the same position. I didn't do this many years ago and had the same problem. I eventually had to take them to an engine builder and he matched them up for me. Hope this helps.

Had exactly the same problem with a red 6 once. Did you resize the conrods ie close and hone them? The red 6 I was building was just rings and bearings, but it locked solid once the rod bolts were done up. Once the rods were closed and honed it was all sw |

ok, thnks guts. i think its ok now, ive been round and loosened them off wound the motor round a little bit then tensioned them back down over to stages.
Hard to turn but does, just needed to loose my skirt and have an honest crack at it.
