G'day All,
I had a leak in one of the flange gaskets on the cat, so I decided to change both ends and give the cat a bit of an inspection to see if it was blocked or anything, well.... lo and behold there is no way it could be blocked because there is nothing inside it! seems someone has taken the guts out of it.My question is would this be affecting anything (apart from the obvious environmental impact) e.g. fuel economy or power or anything else? The ute runs on LPG, and I have never really found out whether a cat is more or less effective with LPG than petrol, or whether I actually need one with gas at all. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.Russ.

If you remove the petrol system, you can remove the cat.

Gutting a cat is a phenomenon that lurks amongst idiots who think it makes a car go faster - it doesn't......

It really doesn't change anything as far as power & economy.

What it does thoug
Cheers,

Mick

When you look through it, you can actually see through, however it is a fine set of holes through a ceramic substrate that is coated with rare metals to "convert" the harmful gasses into less harmful ones when at operating temp.

The fumes from unleaded after it is burnt without a cat are quite dangerous and may harmful to brain developement in small children so fumes coming in from the exhaust when children are in the back seat or whatever should be avoided. And as said, the cat
