Hi All, one for the grey motor fanatics,
The FJ has been making a strange noise, sounded like the bearings in the generator were shot, so I pulled it out and my Auto Elect stripped it and found they were in great shape, so I thought it may have been the water pump going, but when I pulled the water pump out, I noticed the front half of the harmonic balancer was slightly loose, it has a little movement between the two halves, could this be the cause of the noise, and will the HB need replacing before I go any further??

Id be thinking YES! There should be no movement what so ever. And once the seal of the two parts has been broken it will only get worse.

Replace or rebond.
