Just wondering about the meaning of, and possible thinking behind GMH part numbering. For example, in the HQ parts catalogue, there are part numbers that commence with letters A, D, M, SP, VS etc as well as all-digit part numbers.

I've always wondered why. I'm sure someone will know.

Thanks. Gerard.

Some numbers are sourced from Overseas when they purchase those parts.Others are allocated as the vehicle is designed and then others are done after the vehicle is built.M & VS numbers are usually issued by GMH parts division at Dandenong (HSPO)and mostly
