Howdy Fellow Ford Freaks, I'm thinking about transplanting a 351 Clevo from my terminally cancerous XD Sundowner into an '85 XF 4 speed manual van. Being new to this site I've had a bit of a look around and read that it's no big deal, heater core issues, firewall penetrations and possible firewall massaging. I am thinking the logical thing to do is transplant the entire FMX, 4 wheel disc, 8 3/4 " drive train from the XD but am not sure about the cross member, springs etc. I have some mechanical and panel beating experience, enough to do the work required, but lack the knowledge regarding finer points of this upgrade. The cross members are the same you just un bolt the 6 cyl engine mounting towers off the XF & bolt the V8 towers on to the XF cross member.
your borg Warner diff will bolt straight in.
The downside though is that the XF only came out with
