I bought myself a 4MA Crankshaft, Thinking they'd be the best choice only to discover there's a 4MAB crank too. Could someone tell me which is best and how do they differ?

The B in MAB means brinnel tested. In short it doesn't mean much at all. I ran a stock 351 ctank @ 500hp without a single issue.

I was told ages ago that the 4MA crank was a US Crank
and the 4MAB was the same but was produced at Broadmedows???

If I'm going to HELL it will be in an XB COUPE!

4MA is american 351 crank, when we made them here they were just 351 cranks, 4MAB is supposed to be better, but who knows

all cleveland cranks are marked either 302 351 4ma 4mab
302 351 marked cranks are made in australia
4ma 4mab are american and are better than aussie cranks
4mab is for brinnel tested cranks but dont worry about it
your never going to break it unless

the 4ma-B crank were made with more steel & a considerable less ratio of nodular iron content.. American made and used in the higher hp special build mustangs either BOSS or CJ.. 4ma-b is indestructible !
thankyou

I have been searching the web trying to find out what 4ma stands for. I know they are made in America and are built stronger than the Australian cranks but what do the initials 4 m a actually represent?

The 4MA crank was used in 4V applications in the US just as the 4MAB. However, the B in 4MAB DOES NOT mean it was brinnel tested! The Boss 351 motors were the only motors that technically had the the cranks hardness tested. Ford US pulled 4MA cranks fr
