Hi, This isn't exactly Holden related, but since 2 out of 3 of my cars are old holdens, I'm hoping you'll all let me get away with it! Due to expanding family (new kid + german shepherd), our main car (Mazda 323 Astina) isn't big enough and we're upgrading. We're checking out mid-sized SUV's, and have narrowed it down to the Mazda Tribute V6, or the Honda CRV Extra. Here's my question... all my research on new car negiations says to know the Invoice Price paid by the dealer when trying to agree on a price. We're hoping to sell the 323 privately (it's up on carsales), so no trade to complicate things. I can find American websites that give Invoice Prices for America, but nothing here in Australia. It seems to be a well guarded secret. So how do you find Aussie Invoice Prices for new cars? In particular, these two... General advice is to work from an amount above Invoice Price, rather than from an amount below RRP... Appreciate any help. Cheers, Jason. Edited by user Thursday, 12 October 2006 9:54:54 PM(UTC)

Hi Jason.
I doubt very much that anybody in Australia would let that info out, it is confidential.
It's not that simple either, because even if you knew the actual invoice cost, that's not the real dealer purchase price, because of bonuses etc. The |

Thanks Dr Terry. Yep, I'm aware that there are bonuses and rebates that make it even cheaper for them, but was curious as to whereabouts their bottom line would be.
Not entirely convinced on the Captiva - I didn't actually know about it until a colleg

jason, the simple way to negotiate is to start at a really silly low figure and let them tell you what you will be paying...then just go from dealer to dealer....you will soon figure it out....negotiation is really only a matter of being cheeky... |
