Hi There Just a question On My Vr commodore When I start it it has started to rev really high about 1500 and then after about 6-7 secs it goes back to normal idle, And then on other time it will start really rough like it is starving for fuel and then goes up to normal idle. It has also started to get relly hot in traffic at stand still alot quicker than it usually does the other day it got really hot and I could see a tiny bit of coolant that had dropped on to the harmonic balancer. Too make it all worse the other day I put it in for a service at a new place never been there before and they didnt put my radiator cap on properly and I lost all my coolant wasnt happy.

The Cap is fine As I got a new one today as it turns out my thermo fan is not kicking in at all I tested it manually and the fan works. So Does this mean it is the thermo switch and how do I got about fixing this

sounds like either your idle valve is playing up, which would explain the revs when starting, and may explain the overheating.
or there is a prob with timing, maybe crank angle sensor etc.

your best bet is to get the codes checked by a reputable mecha

and there is no thermo switch as such, but the fan is controlled by the ECU Via the A/C controls.
i have found getting a new A/C panel fixes the fan issues(i am assuming its the stock one, not the Calais Climate Control)
