Have cleaned the muck of the diff in my 308 HZ 1 tonner to find the diff ration (using the info from this forum). I was not suprised to find it was 3.55, quick take off but no legs.
My first question is what ratio is good for highway running as well as running around the city.
Do I just replace the center of the diff or pull it completelly out and replace it with a refurbished one. The one i have got is in good order no oil leaks and is resonable quite and the outside has no bad dents or knocks

Could anyone in perth recomend someone that works on Diff's and give me a guide as to the cost to replace the center up to replace the whole diff

If it's an auto go for a 3.08. You can do this by either getting 3.08 gears and putting them in your centre, buying a complete diff (hard to find in a commercial) or getting a complete VN diff assembly and getting the tonner mounts welded on. if you go VN

If it's an M20 3.08 will be fine. If it's an M21 you would be better to stick to 3.36.

Hey Jampher,
I have a 1 tonner with a sals that has 3.08 gears and I'm after 3.55's! I got it as a project and diff is in good condition.
Is your an LSD? Mine is NOT LSD... if there is some way to do a centre swap and just pay for the shipping costs (
