hey there just wondering if anyone else has owned a 5L vk with an electric intank fuel pump? mine suffers fuel starvation when reaching higher revs....if i floor the car it starts to run out of petrol at about 5000 rpms and i have to back off for a little bit and then i can floor it again and its right.....any ideas? i've put a new in tank fuel pump in it already to no avail.....apparently there is no intank high volume pump available.....

Hi maccaz69.

This was a common issue when VKs were new. HDT partially overcame it by fitting a hi-volume mechanical pump to their cars.

The easy fix is to rebuild the carby & adjust the float level back up to the same height as HT to HZ. The Blue/
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

hi thanks for your post.
yep everything else is fine....if i change down when doing about 40 kms to first and floor it its good to redline about 5800 or so....it just can't handle prolonged full throttle. even overtaking in 2nd gear while floored causes

Of the HDT VK's I have seen the early one's ran both pumps and the later one's just had a electric in tank pump

you can remove the round aneriod cavity insert while you are in there too.(the round black spacer that sits near the fuel inlet)there are lots of other tricks for the rochester too. This site seems to have a lot of info on them.http://www.442.com/oldsfaq
