Hello everyone.

I am thinking of building an xy drag car and would like to know what I should be budgeting/who to go to for various stages of the build. I have a good shell which has no rust, so there is a saving!

I will need to get:
rear tubs
Roll cage
4 link rear setup

I would also like:
fibreglass bonnet/guards/boot
plexi glass for the side windows

I would appreciate any guidance in both costs and who are good shops to talk to.(based in sydney)

Thanks.

If you have no driveline or a driveline than can handle the punishment?

You'll spend anywhere from $30,000-$50,000. It ain't cheap trust me.

Rollcage = $2500-$3500 not sure on the others. I haven't done any of that and I'm in the $50's. Admittedly m

Thanks XB351,

Fortunately I'm already resigned to the fact its expensive - but as i have always wanted to build a serious race car - the money is a side issue (within reason!)

I have built my motor - so that is dealt with. The gearbox is underway a

I am in Vic.

In regards to chassis building you want to find someone who builds race cars. Do a search via the whitepages using "race cars" as the search item. You could also choose to search for "chassis". They will also do cages.

That's the drama

Thanks XB351 - appreciate your response.

Unfortunately i haven't seen your car - i tend to buy street machine and Perf. Ford on an adhoc basis.

The cage is going to be a real issue (i can see this already). With my hope to break into low 9's while r

Gary Meyers etc cars just ain't legal. They are far from it. Due to their fame they get over looked. Take a look @ 351cleveland.net there's quite a few cars doing 9's on leaf springs and a caltrac setup. I'm pretty sure Dandy engines and CHI cyl heads wil

Love your bonnet! Is it the same car as pictured in your avatar upgraded or differnet car altogether? Note you used to have a scoop and twin light front.. looks very purposeful with that latest bonnet either way!

It's the same car. The twin headlight grille was too damaged to keep on the car. I've got 3 bonnets for the car. 1 * 100% factory (inc scoops and pins), 1 * pictured and 1 as per my avatar.

You can do anything you like once it's registered. It's much s

There's a guy up on the central coast named brendan who does the neatest and tidiest cages around. He works out of the Grants Performance factory at Charmhaven. im sure once you've seen his work you won't take our prized posession any where else.
