G`day all. What is the max size a 179 hp block can be taken out to? Mine already measures approx 91 mm (measured roughly with verniers)

I've seen them at 192 cubes ie 1/8" oversize. But why bother? Just use a 186 block. That size overbore is a shaky deal.

They have been bored out to 186 +.060" oversize, which is 192, which is .125" oversize for a 179, which is a very large amount to overbore. The walls would be close to 1.6mm thinner

In my experience, both the 179 & 186 blocks can be safely bored to the same max of 186 + .060" = 192 ci. The 179 starts life with a thicker wall, but they are both essentially the same casting. I have seen some bored .080", but the castings wo

can i still use the steel crank from the 179 block in a 186 block? if so what differences will this make+...Cheers..

Most HR 186 motors also feature forged cranks. We've done this one to death, do a search & check out the past posts.
