can any one tell me how make the selection lever more precise and firm when selecting positions on my hq trimatic 202 i can do the ones under the car but the column seems to have nothing to adjust cheer and thanks

My dad use to drive hq as taxi but it was manual and he said the nylon bushes use to wear out and he made his own and they lasted forever where the factory ones didnt..I dont no where these nylon parts are or if they are on the auto..
