I'd like to buy a 253 Holden engine complete with an automatic transmission suitable to be transplanted into another vehicle, what would one pay for this combination.

Would it be possible to put the VH engine and auto transmission in a pre May 1975 vehicle and run it without the pollution stuff or would I need one from a earlier Holden maybe like a HQ. I was told pre May 1975 vehicles can be fitted with non pollution e

If that is the case, just buy a complete 253 HQ-HJ or LH (or early LX) vehicle. If the vehicle you want it to go in is a HK-HG buy a complete 253 HT or HG with trimatic as these models have different trimatics and sumps, although you can adapt the later s
