Howdy, Does anyone know if a Tremec Commodore 5 speed will clear a bench seat in an HG ute....? Has anyone done this conversion - do you retain the original clutch set up or do you have to go hydraulic? I know a celica wont fit with the bench - any other ideas? Do any of the chev autos (350 etc) have an over-drive & would be compatable with a carburettored engine?

A TH700R4 out of a VN or VP V8 will do the job. Plus you can shift it from a B&M cable shifter that can be mounted as far forward as the dash permits. There is a TH200R4 available in the USA that is the same length as a TH350.

You may be better off looking at a ford T5 as they have a shorter input shaft than the V6 Commodore 5 speed which in turn would put the gear stick further forward. Dellow in Sydney know a fair bit about what t5's have what characteristics. www.dellowauto. |
