I just bought a second hand motor from a local wrecker for my family car (Toyota Tarago) yeah don't laugh!!!
Anyways the wrecker dropped it off at my workshop and noticed my Chev Statesman sitting in the corner.
He told me this story, don't know how true it is - but went on to say there is some American guy who makes two trips out here a year, and he buys up and pays cash for for 4 Chev powered Monaros to go onto a container and shipped to the U.S every year.
Appearently they sell for anything between $50,000 and $150,000 US without any fuss, cash buyers waiting in advance.
Does anyone know who this bloke is and if this story is true?
This got me thinking, how many of our Aussie cars are actually in the States and just maybe this may be a reason why they are reaching such a fantastic price for them here. Maybe Warren might know some answers to who this bloke is. The wrecker with the info didn't want to go into too much detail with me, but he seemed genuine.

No I do not know anything about it, I did know of a site a while ago that had some ****ty HQ coupes and ford coupes for sale, but they were heaps of junk asking big dollars.
The LHD conversions were also dodgy.

There is a mob that specialises in exporting Ford XB coupes to the states specifically for use as Mad Max replicas. They were also doing a few HQ coupes due to "The Nightrider" driving a HQ LS coupe in Mad Max 1.
