hsv memcal for standard 5.0 VP commodore auto

Just put in a 180KW (HSV) memcal on my standard 165KW 5.0 VP commodore auto today. Car seems to run fine, probably goes a bit harder too. Problem is the 'check engine' light remains on constantly. Can anyone give me an explanation to why this is and if there is a fix for it. Thanks.

The 180kw HSV memcal works in conjunction with a knock sensor, extractors, exhaust & cold-air system. On it's own the chip will do bugger all, as it is tuned to work with the above items.

thanks commodore nut. I gave my car a bit of a flooring with the HSV memcal, ran it with optimax and kept an ear out for any pinging. It felt like it went better but it was probably all in my mind.
I believed all HSV motors had a knock sensor until

The patch harness for the knock sensor is still available new from Holden. The knock sensor can be found on any VN V6. Unsure about the add on board though.

I'm pretty sure you can butcher the required bits out of a VN V6 ECU. - I'll have to pull the lid off one I have in the shed & have a look for you. The Delco computer used in the VN is basically just a series of "drivers" controlled by the

Hi Guys.
The HSV computer is the same as standard.
If fact all Delco ECUs from the 1.6/1.8 LD Astras (Pulsars), 2.0 JE Camiras & ALL V6 & V8 VN/VG/VQ & VP Commodores. As long as the 'Service No.' is 1227808 you just fit the correct

thanks for the info guys. I'll give the VN-VP V6 computer and knock sensor a go.
on an interesting note 'powerchip' claims VN-VP: 183KW, VR-VS: 186KW and VQ: 191KW max output from their performance chips for the 165KW V8. Now the factory claims 165

You need to fit the knock sensor and wiring loom as well
