Im builing up my hg for my hot 186 im also building. I want the car to have a gangsta kind of feel about it. Its going to be black and low. I want to put commodore stud pattern wheels on it. How do i change the stud pattern?

How hard whould it be to put a late model commodore diff into the HG? eg VS SS LSD?

your better off with a nine inch.
they are alot more easier to put in and are alot stronger and probly cheaper

Dunno about that Zac. The BW live axle diffs are pretty strong and cheaper than a 9"...

are they easier to put in??? and are they lighter?
sometimes a 9" is a over kill for a six so i have been told!

Thats why i wanted to try a commodore diff, as a 9 inch would be a bit overkill for the six

Also a lot more weight in a 9 inch diff,a b/w behind a 6 cyl hg has to be 10 times stronger than banjo diff.

if it ain't broke we can improve it.

ive also been told 9inch diffs chew up a bit of power to, and in this project i need all the power i can get

If u go the b/w way a vl diff may be correct width which will give u commodore stud pattern at rear and for front if u get undrilled rotors for your model and have them drilled to suit commodore rim

Depends on who you go through man.... I picked up a set of undrilled for my UC for 156bucks the pair!! But thats through a friend who has contacts *Taps on his nose*!! You'd probably get change from $250 for a pair...

You may want to consider ftting HQ type disc rotors and calipers,they are a better rotor(vented)also easier to get undrilled,the HG type rotor is seperate to hub,so hub would still have to be modified to suit stud pattern.

might even consider some how using brakes of a later model commodore, but then i will need a better brake booster

On EBAY try mr-spares they have a lot of upgrade kits for holden don't know if they do HG can't hurt to look.

do you think it would be a good idear to put interior out of a vr/vs commodore into the old hg? or would that just be a waste of time?

Bucket seats with headrests for sure vr/vs or maybe even hz/wb type may be easier to fit,I think that would be about all that would fit out of vr/vs

Go the B/W. Make sure you use the 4 pinion and Not the 6 cyl models (early commys) as there a 2 pinion type. Read Weak!
