Well just got off the phone to Holden.
I rang up to see if they could verify that the a car I have is a Sandman. Guy in Holden was helpfull. But confused me more, I am no expert on these car but am learning,
He told me all Sandmans will have the xx7 or xu3 code, or interstingly for me another code was XY5?? Sorry guys if youve read this over at old holdens
He told me there is a lot of cars optioned by the dealers that appeared as genuine Sandmans which arent. Dealers wouldpay less for these optioned up Vans than a orginal Sandman. Also with the Sandmans getting only built in Acacia Ridge and Brisbane(I think I got places right), there was a supply shortage, hence dealers optioning up others to appear a Sandman
I am 80% sure and so is a few others that the van a have brought is a Sandman. But guess will never know for sure now, however if the bloke in Holden is right then I dont have a Sandman.

He has little idea of what he is talking about. He is correct about what the dealers did though. They appear to have often done this to ambulance packs or kingswoods, or often to Belmonts/Holdens. All Sandmans are XX7 or XU3 (HQ only has XX7) hoewver th |

I'm pretty sure Sandmans where built at every Holden plant. My mate has a HZ built at Elizabeth . Go to Van Council of Victoria website. They'll have answers to your Sandman queries. Also try some of the other van links ( VCSA ).

It's one of those 'in-between' cars. If it's a Sandman it's an XU3. The original rear attachment for the hoodlining and the coutesy light switches are the best indicators, but you can never tell for sure. My original estimation was about 90% sure it's a S |

Its a Sandman.M 70 gave it away. HX-HZ models are all most the same. Sandmans had kingswood trims and seats. the hood lining is good. from factory all were buckskin in colour unless asked for black. i have only seen 2 vans with black factory hood linings.

It's not a 100% gurantee that it is a Sandman. M70 simply means HOLDEN or base model panel van. If it had another trim code then you could tell for sure, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to tell from those particular ID plates that it is definitely a Sandman. Full le |

Byron,in the Holden book i have states that the vans with 8WN70 is a kingwood, Sandmands were plated as a Belmont 8WM70 from the HQ days. I know the Belmont stopped after the HQ but the Sandmans kept that i.d. Remember that HQ-HZ Sandmans were made from l

Whoa. I don't know where you get your info from but it's almost all myth! Yes the N70 is a Kingswood, and was only available on HX and HZ. However, the N80 (Kingswood ute) was available from HQ to WB and there were HQ and HJ Kingswood Sandman utes. Even |
