Hi guys and girls,

just brought my next project a HX Van. I need to fix the cowl panles/plenum chambers.

What do people do to prevent it from happening again in 5 or 10 yrs time? It appears to be a design fault , like the rear quarters.

Is there any preventive Maintenance that can be done????

With the heavy rust that your HX has in that area, I would tend to spend a little more time and remove the entire cowl panel, fix the plenum rust and put on a non-rusty cowl off a donor car. If the cowl is rusty the plenum will be too, and normally the fl

Its sounds like the quickest and cheapest way to go in the long run.

Good point, but I suppose it comes down to a balancing act between a quick 'bog' fix, with all that is left at the end is a rusty piece of junk with good mechanicals, versus a decent van that has some residual value. HOWEVER, from the photos you sent me,
