Hi all. My enquiry is whether anyone can shed some light on a 351 Cleveland engine that I own which has an engine number that differs from the usual JG..etc, and also that the number is located on the top surface of the engine block. I know the history of the engine back to about 1979, when it had proper big port 4v heads and a toploader gearbox (which I still have). The engine number is not stamped in the usual position on the side of the block above the fuel pump, but is on the top surface of the engine immediately forward (i.e. to the front of the car) from the distributor. And, it is stamped facing backwards (i.e. facing the cabin). The number is ZF7A2900030. The casting numbers found elsewhere on the block are D2AE-CA, with 4C4 below it, and the numbers 1,3,5,7,9 on the clock face, with a dimple between 3 & 5 and 7 & 9. I have been advised that 4C4 is a 4th March 1974 Australian casting from an XB and the clock is the shift that it was cast in. If anyone has any comment or opinion on the engine or has an interest in it please let me know. I can send a picture if you provide an e-mail address. Regards, Adrian (Tel. 0438 593 038). Thanks Monza. I also got some info on another forum. One option is that it's a factory warranty motor. Cheers.

I found this Cleveland site. Only just stumbled on it last night doing a google search but there seems to be a fair bit of knowledge there. Might be of some help to you and the other fellow with clevo questions. http://www.network54.com/Forum/119419

Adrian, I was talking to a Ford Guru the other day and he mentioned that the 351 windsors are stamped where your engine numbers are. So if your engine is a clevo best bet is that it was a restamped bare block most likely from the US. That would explain

Thanks again Paul. The stamping itself looks like a factory job. And since I last posted I've discovered that it doesn't have GF embossed in the casting at the back of the block. So, tending to think you're right Mate. Although, I've still got a suspicio

Hey Jim, my Clevo came from the States and is also stamped in the wrong place, behind the motor, below the heads which is where they stamped their 302 windsors. The stamping also looks factory. The guy looking at my motor also told me that mine was an au

All I can tell you is that your motor is out of a march 1973 Fairlane. As for telling if it's a 351 or 302 you will have to either measure the stroke down the bore with a piece of wire or take the sump off and look at the crank as it will have it cast in
