Whilst a lot of that is true, lots of it is biased away from the truth.
The 24hr Monaro was a GenIII derivative, not a traditional Gen I or II small block.
Holden won Bathurst in 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987 using th |

Hi Guys.
I didnt want this to turn into a Chev is better than Holden argument, that could go on forever (Byron didnt the Holden V8 also win Bathurst in 1990 & 1993).
My original comment was that a standard SBC would not rev to 7000 RPM. What the GM |

Dr terry, take the STD vortec 330HP chev with Late HEI. A fairly STD motor. Make a cam dial in change what would stop that from reaching 7000RPM? I don't know the specs of cam the GM engineers used, or what type of STD motor it was, however, Bill |

Hi adam.
Yes, I agree. On an engine stand, a $5,000 350 SBC could have more power than a $5,000 Holden 355. But that's not actually what we are discussing.
The Holden V8 will bolt straight into any Commodore for zero parts cost using existing hardwa |

Terry you are right. I wasnt really thinking past the carbied era but you are right that the venerable old Holden V8 did win in 1990 and 1993. The 1990 win of the (by then) old Walkinshaw VL certainly did prove the durability of the old pushrod Holden V8 |

Just stroke the 308 (itll be a 350 not a 355). Saves you having to replace all the marinising gear. COME complete stroker kits are pretty good value. If your block is not STD bore replace it. You dont want a 308 in a boat with a bore bigger than 20 or 30 |
