ive owned my 5.0 injected ute since 1997..its got just under 400,000k onit..late 2005 it got damaged and sat in a panelshop for 5 weeks while being repaired, got it back and within 5 k oil light came on and within 10k lifters started to rattle...obviously no oil pressure so home it goes and i remove the xmember and drop the sump and pick up and clean these out and then put new genuine holden oil pump and new oil pressure switch..this fixed my problem and off we go again...for the past 5 weeks its just been sitting and when i go to use it...lo and behold the friggin oil lght comes on..bugger,so i just kept doin laps around the block to see if the lifters would start to rattle and guess what...they did...so obvious no oil pressure...question here is...anyone here ever heard of this happening before?...i am going to pull the pressure relief valve out and make sure its not stuck and change the oil because its due...ive had cars that ive bought that have sat for 5 years and they fire up with good oil pressure so its got me stuffed... |

Okay, so let's presume that the pressure relief valve is either stuck open, or that the spring holding the valve piston in place has lost compression. Worth a look for sure. If you want to do some testing, you could cut a piece of mild steel rod to the

Holden V8's are notoriously bad to get initial oil pressure into. When I worked at a local service station we used to have to fill the new oil filter with oil sometimes before fitting it to the car.
It sounds like you may have a leak between the oil |

Jim raises an excellent point, which triggers my memory as well.
Two things regarding pickups that I have encountered over the years are that the plate on the end of the pickup that bolts to the block is not always flat. I always linished the face by
