i would like to know how do you replace the manual wind up regulators in hqs with the power window regulators, the wireing and switchers are the easy part but when i tried to fit the regulators inside the door they seem to be to big,and the motors hit the guids on the side.do the guids have to come out?does anyone know how to fit these power window regs because im now at a lost, and yes i do have a full power window kit for a hq-wb.

Probably the best adv

I recommend buying a set of complete rusty power doors and then it's easy. I think you need to drill extra holes too.

Hi Byron,

The only extra hole I had to drill in my HQ doors to fit the power windows was the one where the wiring boot goes between body and door. Other than that, they were all there already.

Cheers...Dave

I had two failed attempts at putting the regulators in my HQ Belmont doors. Then I took a trip to the wreckers and checked out a door with the regulators fitted, and guess what there are two indents low on the door directly below the regulator - you need

Hi Scott,

One of the two wires that goes to the motor winds the window up, the other winds it down and they earth through the bolts onto the door frame.

John, I am still trying to find those exploded views for you. Hopefully in the morning mate...

QUte thanks, were do I put the relay in the system, do I need two relays one for up one for down for each door, or do I run direct power to each wire and the switches can handle full current?

I put power windows from a HJ Statesman into my old HJ GTS many years ago and it was pretty easy.

I had to drill couple of holes in the door back for mounting but the indents were already there so it was easy.

I had the doors off to drill the holes

Hi Scott, glad you liked the E-mail mate.

Correct, the HQ - WB's didn't use relays for the windows, all power went through the switch. If you want to run relays, you need to run two for each window (1 for up and 1 for down).

I thought there may be a

The doors on HQ are similar in most aspects to the later models. The major exception being the addition of intrusion bars on later ones for safety reasons. It makes sense to compare the doors and fittings while they are off the vehicle and pulled apart.I fo
