Can anyone help with advice on front brakes for my project hk ute. It currently has drums with no booster. Some say hq will fit some say hj and hz? I am confused. Will be powered by a SBC or 308 @ approx 400hp.

Go to Hopper's Stopper Website. There is a page on there with LOTS of information on upgrading early Holden's brakes.

The HQ ones will fit but you need to change the stub axles and the wheel nuts pattern will be different. HK/T/G disks will bolt straight on but you again have to change the stub axles but at least the bolt pattern is the same. In both cases you will need

Stunpy, HQ, HJ, HX, HZ and WB are all the same basic stubs and discs. The calipers change style and manufacturer along the way. Simply buy some disc brake stubs with discs and calipers off one of those models and put them on the HK but you will need to s |

I got some HQ rotors with HK stud pattern from Hoppers Stoppers. These guys were great, got me everything I needed and knew their stuff.
Only thing they didnt tell me, was that you cant use the original HK wheels (14 inch) as they foul on the caliper.

Pretty sure you can use HT/HG wheels though

You have to be able to use 14" wheels as this is what is STD on HQ. Just not HK offset that's all. |

FYI, when i renewed the rear brake cylinders in my HT ute (boosted disk front) they were a different part number to passenger vehicles items...
