Can anyone advise if you can determine what is an open centre or LSD without removing the axles and centre? Thanks

One of the ways I've always used is to jack the car up & put it on stands.
Release the handbrake, and then spin one of the rear wheels.
If the tailshaft spins, whack it into gear (park for an auto) and try again.

Ok thanks Mick, I checked this Monday and it is an open centre. I thought that there may be a mark on the carrier casting or cast as a slightly different shape and you could also tell that way. By chance, is that correct or are all diff centre carriers ca

Vern, if memory serves me, a banjo lsd centre has got one(1) mounting bolt that is longer than the rest of the bolts and is only common to the lsd centre. Looking at the centre front on, I think it might be the bottom right side bolt, but, I cant remember

Hi Mr Ejay.
The diff housing with the 2 long bolts is not made to suit the LSD. The 2 long bolts are at 6 o'clock & 7 o'clock looking from the front.
The housing that has 2 longer bolts is cast differently to clear the larger crown wheel on 2.78 & 3 |

Hmmm, I always thought to find out you just got a straight strech of road and did a linelocker - 1 black line = open, 2 black lines = LSD......
