The information suggested is correct, however, when "reaching around the back of the light switch mechanism to push the release button", I think you will find it is actually on the top of the switch mechanism. It is a little tricky to find if you have not

Best to disconnect the battery first as you are going to have live wires floating around and also you have to turn the lights on before pressing the little spring loaded button on the switch body behind the dash attempting to pull the switch rod/button ou
